HAPPY TUNESDAY!

Today, two great new albums for you to buy!  Atlantan hard rock/prog-rockers Mastodon are releasing Once More ‘Round The Sun and Nothing More, also with one foot in the prog rock side of things,  have their self-titled debut.  Both are wonderful and worth checking out both on these records and when they are in your area!…..Heard some new info on the Korn “tour version”  of The Paradigm Shift reissue.   It is coming out on Jul 15th and will include the new single “Hater” and two other tunes, one originally written for use in the film Hercules, which unfortunately, didn’t make it.  There will also be a bunch of live tracks of new and classic Korn tunes and video footage.  Jonathan Davis has been writing up a storm while on break-the guy never is not working on music, whether it’s for Korn, J Devil or Killbot.   I would be interested in knowing what kind of record YOU would like to see Korn make.  Send it along in an email to me via the interact link on the home page…..Well, the hardDriveRadio APP is getting the kinks out and should be ready for you to download on Monday!    Very excited.  iPhone users will find it a breeze, and Android or other smart phone users will have to play around a bit, but should not be too challenging for you all!   Some features on there include user interaction with other users and with us, plus some bits and full interviews  you can’t hear anywhere else…conducted by Lou Brutus and yours truly.  You’ll see info about all the “cast” here at hardDriveRadio, including our in studio associate producers, Zak Tranese and Bill Powell,  and the awesome Paulie Walnuts! There’ll be other music news items and much more.  It’s very cool!…Pulse Of Radio reports  Foo Fighters set aside a portion of their headlining performance at this past weekend’s Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware to perform a string of classic rock songs, including Alice Cooper‘s “School’s Out,” the Rolling Stones‘ “Miss You,” Van Halen‘s “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” — with drummer Taylor Hawkins on vocals — and Queen and David Bowie‘s “Under Pressure.”  Frontman Dave Grohl introduced that segment of the set during Friday’s (Jun 20th) show by telling the 80,000-strong crowd, “I love rock and roll as much as the next guy, maybe even f***ing more than the next guy. I love being in the Foo Fighters. But tonight, for the next four or five songs, we’re a f***ing bar band called The Holy S***s that plays f***ing classic rock songs.”  Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins told us classic rock is an undeniable part of his influences: “It’s there, you know, and I wear ‘em heavily on my sleeve, my influences. It’s in my DNA now, you know. I’ve listened to it enough. I’m under the influence, no question, you know.”  The rest of the Foos’ set featured many of their staple hits, but no new material from their upcoming eighth studio album.  Guitarist Chris Shiflett played the entire show seated in a chair onstage, with Grohl announcing, “Chris broke his foot or his ankle or something, but he came out here to play for you guys anyway.”  The new Foo Fighters album will be out this fall, in conjunction with the premiere of a new HBO documentary series called Sonic Highways. The Dave Grohl-directed series will follow the band to eight iconic studios in different parts of the country, documenting the region’s musical history as well as the making of the record.   Check out these videos from the show.  Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, Queen….Linkin Park were the surprise guest band at Sunday’s Warped Tour stop in  Ventura, CA.  They did a seven song set with guests from some of the bands on the tour invited up to join them on each song.  The appearance was to  help celebrate the long-running festival’s 20th anniversary. Guest appearances were from A Day To Remember‘s Jeremy McKinnonFinch‘s Nate BarcalowThe Devil Wears Prada‘s Mike Hranica and Yellowcard’s Ryan Key, among others. Cool stuff!…..Here’s a good one also from Pulse. Pearl Jam busted out a brief snippet of the hit song “Let It Go” from the animated Disney film Frozen on Friday night (Jun 20th) during a concert in Milan, Italy. Singer Eddie Vedder belted out the chorus from the tune a few minutes into “Daughter.” With two daughters at home himself, one five years old and another 10 years old, Vedder himself has probably heard the tune enough to sing it in his sleep. Hopefully it’ll find a home in the set when Pearl Jam hits the road in the U.S. this fall. Watch it here.  (Thanks Hennemusic)….England’s Royal Blood have set August 26th for their debut album (the 25th in Europe). Hard to believe this band is only two guys!  Look for them in the states starting Jul 15th,  and we hope to have them in the hardDriveRadio studios before that…. Wanna see two songs Metallica performed at Rock Im Park in Nurnberg, Germany last week?  Enjoy “Creeping Death” and “The Day That Never Comes”  here…Speaking of our new affiliate in Nurnberg, GONG 97.1,  wonder if we should have a little “gentlemen’s bet” on the outcome of the FIFA/World Cup tournament game on Thursday.   Maybe a bunch of cheeseburgers  for weiner schnitzel??? Whaddaya think?????…Happy 70th to the amazing guitarist Jeff Beck!  One of the my early favs.  You must listen to his Truth album (“Shapes Of Things,”) but I also loved him in the Yardbirds and the Rod Stewart Band.  3>
