HAPPY FRIDAY

Ya know, I always knew Jacoby Shaddix and I had something in common!   This! The Papa Roach frontman said in a new interview while on tour in Australia he believes rock music is “coming back pretty strong.” Shaddix explained, “There’s this new wave of younger, heavier bands that’s coming up – Of Mice & Men,Bring Me The HorizonWe Came As Romans . . . with this fresh, new rock sound, but these were the kids that were listening to Papa Roach, Korn and Deftones when they were kids. And so there’s kindred spirits between our bands, because they’re, like, ‘Yo, dude, you guys inspired us back in the day.’ And we’re looking at these bands, going, ‘You guys are inspiring us now.’” Shaddix continued, “I definitely feel there’s a resurgence in rock. And give it another five years, and it’s gonna be the biggest thing on the planet again.”  The singer added that “everything’s cyclical,” saying, “We kind of see this resurgence of heavier-sounding bands. It’s, like, cool. It’s exciting.”  Papa Roach released its latest album, F.E.A.R., at the end of January. The title track is currently Number One on the rock radio chart.  Papa Roach is currently touring Europe but will start a U.S. run mixing festivals and shows with Godsmack in late April. (Thanks Pulse Of Radio)….I posted this last night on the hardDriveRadio Facebook page.   These guys are geniuses!  Slipknot is the subject of the latest video from Sock Puppet Parody, which pays tribute to iconic bands and glorifies their undergarments. The latest clip from the troupe is for the band “Socknot,” as it performs “Wait In Bleach,” a takeoff on the Slipknot hit “Wait And Bleed.”  A press release stated, “When socks are used as rags, they’re liable to go insane. These socks have reached their tearing point. Now they’ve snapped and formed the ultimate garage band, Socknot! The band is made up of misfit socks that have been all but used up. Frayed by the constant abuse, they have channeled that insanity into their hit single, ‘Wait And Bleach.’ This mosh pit of insanity hits you like a washboard and doesn’t let up.”  Sock Puppet Parody previously released a video for the song “Master Of Sock Puppets” which was based on Metallica‘s classic 1986 track “Master Of Puppets.”   “Wait And Bleed” appeared on Slipknot’s self-titled 1999 debut album and was released as the lead single from the CD in July 1999.  The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001 for “Best Metal Performance.”  Slipknot recently unveiled the details of a massive summer headlining tour dubbed Summer’s Last Stand. The trek kicks off on Jul 24th in West Palm Beach, FL, wrapping up six weeks later on Sep 5
th in Dallas.  The summer jaunt follows a brief spring run that Slipknot will launch on April 25th in Fort Myers, FL, ending on May 16th in Grand Rapids, MI….
Soundgarden‘s Chris Cornell is featured on the new single “Heavy Is The Head” from country’s the Zac Brown Band.  Zac, you may have met for the first time if you watched Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways episode on Nashville, TN.  Previously,  Dave Grohl had produced some stuff for Zac, actually 4 songs on an EP, The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1, back in 2013. And now Zac is merging talent with Mr Cornell.  Seems like Mr Brown wants to rock and rock hard.  I saw Zac open for Foo Fighters back in 2014 when they performed together at a pre-Super Bowl event in NYC.  You could see then Zac loves to rock.  They covered tunes by  Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd andRage Against The Machine‘s “Killing In The Name.” (I went nuts on that one!)   Look for Zac Brown Band’s new album Jekyll & Hyde on Apr 28th.  Could he be a rock star next?….And finally, I love this!  Remember last month when Adam D from Killswitch Engage won a car and truck on The Price Is Right? And I had said sometimes you’re not a winner because you have to pay the taxes on the items you win?  Well, Adam has to sell the car and truck so he CAN pay the taxes on them!   (And I never thought he’d ever drive that car he won anyway!) LOL  (Thanks Jamey Jasta‘s podcast via Loudwire)…. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead an hour at 2 AM on Saturday or it will screw up your Sunday all together! Have a great weekend!
