Jack White has famously claimed he’s never owned a cellphone, but Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich may not quite be convinced.
During an appearance on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Ulrich shared, “For a guy who supposedly doesn’t have a phone, [White’s] a pretty engaged texter.”
“I’m not really sure how that quite works out,” the drummer wondered.
“I’m telling you, it’s a sham!” O’Brien quipped.
Aside from questioning White’s anti-cellphone credentials, Ulrich and O’Brien heaped tons of praise on the White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather rocker.
“Wherever Jack White is playing, if I’m in the same vicinity, I’m always there,” Ulrich said. “I think he personifies that sort of edgy rock ‘n’ roll that’s becoming less of a thing these days.”
He added, “Jack is really one of my top-five all-time musicians.”
