WHERE DID JUNE GO?

Man, where’d June go?  Geez….Want to give a shout-out to our good friend Ray from Capitol Records!  His minor head injury has turned into something scary serious!  We wish him all the best and send healing and healthy vibes!…Avenged Sevenfold will reissue its breakthrough second album, Waking The Fallen, in a new special edition on Aug 26th.  It was originally released Aug 26, 2003!  Waking The Fallen: Resurrected will include a total of 23 tracks, including 11 never-before-heard songs, new artwork, the original first cut of the music video for “Unholy Confessions” and a 30-minute film featuring the present-day band. Among the nearly dozen previously unheard tunes are two new songs, including the long-lost full version of the title track, which was edited down to an instrumental intro on the album. Also featured are four never-before-heard demos — containing alternate lyrics, melodies and arrangements — and five rare live cuts recorded in 2004. The documentary will feature brand new interviews with the band, looking back on the creation of the Waking The Fallen album and its subsequent tour. The film includes personal behind-the-scenes home movies and photos from the band’s earliest days.  Lou Brutus recently asked guitarist Synyster Gates what he thinks has kept Avenged Sevenfold going strong 15 years into their career: “The number one thing is you’ve got to get along. You know, we’re all best friends and everybody gets into disagreement at times but you have to be able to discuss it and be able to live together and grow together. You know, if we weren’t best friends, I couldn’t imagine wanting to do it, because at the end of the day you look forward to being onstage with them because you’re best friends. So all the b.s. just doesn’t matter anymore.”    Avenged Sevenfold and Korn will co-headline this year’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, which kicks off its annual run on Saturday, July 5th in Devore, CA. Man, check out this rare old video of the band!..Speaking of Lou, he posted some great shots over on our Facebookpage.  Please check out the antics at this weekend’s Full Throttle Fest in Illinois!….As mentioned yesterday, Nothing More released their debut self-titled album and are celebrating by announcing a lengthy late summer tour that launches on August 5th in Kansas City and wraps up five weeks later on September 12th in Portland, Oregon. Sleepwave will be the opening act. The new dates come along just as the band’s first single, “This Is The Time (Ballast),” cracks the Top Five at rock radio.  Frontman Jonny Hawkins told us the full album came about during some stressful times for the band, most notably the passing of his mother from cancer: “One of the coolest things about finishing this record and being at the place in life that we’re in now is being able to look back on a lot of times of uncertainty, and times of struggle and hardship and loss. The record for us was kind of a healing process more than anything. It was therapy.”  See Road Rage for the dates… Pulse of Radio  also reports on this story:  Foo Fighters will play South Africa for the first time in the band’s 19-year career, according to Diffuser. Frontman Dave Grohl announced the news in a brief video clip, saying, “Hey, South Africa. My name’s Dave. I play in a band called the Foo Fighters. We’ve never met, so we’re coming down to see you in December. Got a new record to play for you too. Guess what? It’s gonna be a long f***in’ long night.” The band will play in Capetown on Dec 10th and Johannesburg on the 13th. Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are among the headliners for the second annual Life Is Beautiful festival, taking place in downtown Las Vegas from October 24th through the 26th. The diverse lineup also features Arctic Monkeys, Skrillex, Kanye West, Outkast, Lionel Ritchie, The Flaming Lips, Alt-J, Fitz & The Tantrums, Panic! At The Disco, Neon Trees and dozens more. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thursday Jun 26th, at 10:00 a.m. PT at www.lifeisbeautiful.com…. And Dave used to date one of these ladies!   Reunited ’90s alt-rockers Veruca Salt have released a video for “It’s Holy,” one of two new tracks the band recorded for an exclusive 10-inch single that was made available on Record Store Day, April 19th. The tracks were the first from the original band since the 1997 album Eight Arms To Hold You (or as we used to call it, Eight Arms To Hold Lou.) The clip for “It’s Holy” features both footage of the group performing as well as fans doing their own singing and dancing routines. ( Thanks, Consequence Of Sound)…..The Nat Geo Channel (National Geographic) will air a 3-night mini-series called “The 90′s:  The Last Great Decade”  beginning Jul 6.  One of the highlights will be interviews with Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love.  Set your DVR! (Thanks, Pulse Of Radio)…..Happy 42 to Nickelback bassist Mike Kroeger!   Meanwhile, I heard brother Chad has been on the road with his wife, Avril Lavigne, who is touring with The Backstreet Boys currently. Backstreet’s Back, Alright!
…Oh, BTW,  we are still adding some features to the new hardDriveRadio APP!   So please be patient as it will be coming sometime next month and you are gonna LOVE IT!    Promise!
