TGI Friday!

Happy Friday!   I’m sitting here with a terrible ingrown toenail. WTH.  I have regular pedicures!  Oh the agony!…..OK, here’s the news.  Last night I watched Halestorm‘s show from the Tabernacle in Atlanta on a live stream from Yahoo Music.  Good job all!  It was a great show, and Lzzy, you just keep getting better and better!  The woman has a set of lungs on her that just don’t quit.  I love her to death! Band was tight, as usual.  Crowd was over the top awesome.  Make sure to catch them on this run with The Pretty Reckless and Starset right now…..Meanwhile, System Of A Down also streamed a live show, their very special event in Yerevan, Armenia. It was the band’s  first-ever concert in their ancestral country, which took place yesterday (April 23rd), can be seen online in its entirety. The concert marked the culmination of the group’s “Wake Up The Souls” tour, a global trek to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The arena tour kicked off on April 6th in Los Angeles and took System to Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Russia. The group, whose four members are all of Armenian descent, have lost family members and history to the Genocide and have worked tirelessly over the years to promote awareness. Today (April 24th) marks the actual anniversary of the Genocide, an attempted extermination of the Armenian people by Turkey’ Ottoman Empire. From 1915 through 1923, 1.5 million men, women and children were starved, shot, beaten and banished to die in the desert during one of history’s greatest crimes. Though considered by many to be the first genocide of the 20th century, the Turkish government denies it ever happened. While other nations have recognized and commemorated the Genocide, attempts over the past several decades to get the U.S. government to do the same have fallen short, mainly due to Turkey’s value to the U.S. as a strategic ally. Although a resolution recognizing the genocide has been up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives over the years, it has never passed. Tankian told us a while back the situation needs to be rectified once and for all:“Every year for the past number of years this Armenian genocide resolution is introduced, and Turkey will always have a reason to deny it. They’re hanging onto their own lies, they’re spending millions of dollars in propaganda to try to change their history. You know, we should always be truthful. We’re a democracy, for God’s sakes. We can’t lie about a genocide because they’re still happening.” The anniversary of the Genocide will be observed around the world on Friday, including marches in Los Angeles and other major cities. (Thanks Pulse Of Radio)….Also from Pulse, Faith No More‘s two best-selling albums, 1989′s The Real Thing and 1992′s Angel Dust, are being reissued in new editions featuring plenty of bonus rarities. According to Rolling Stone, the reissues will be available as either double-CD or heavyweight double-vinyl sets with the CDs available on June 9th, one month after the band releases its first set of new music in 18 years, Sol Invictus, on May 19th. Neither disc will contain any previously unreleased tracks, but both will collect hard-to-find rarities in the form of live cuts, remixes and other B-sides and bonus tracks. The bonus disc for The Real Thing contains remixes of three of Faith No More’s biggest hits — “Epic,” “Falling To Pieces” and “From Out Of Nowhere” — non-album cuts like “The Grade,” “Cowboy Song” and “Sweet Emotion,” plus live cuts like a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “War Pigs.” Angel Dust also features live tracks, remixes and covers of the Commodores‘ “Easy” and the Dead Kennedys‘ “Let’s Lynch the Landlord.” A vinyl release for both albums is planned for August, though an exact release date has yet to be announced. Faith No More is currently on its first full North American tour since 2010 and plays the third of three Los Angeles shows on Friday night (April 24th)….Got a press release yesterday saying  Scott Weiland has announced a replacement for Jeremy Brown, the guitarist in his band The Walkabouts who died suddenly on March 30th.
