An Evening With Marcus Luttrell

Midland Habitat For Humanity is proud to welcome retired U.S. NAVY Seal Marcus Luttrell to speak at their annual fundraiser.

Luttrell (a native Texan) received the Navy Cross for his outstanding service in 2005. On June 28 of that year, his team was assigned to a mission to kill or capture a high-ranking Taliban leader. A group of local goat herders discovered the team’s location and betrayed them to the Taliban, resulting in an intense battle.

An MH-47 Chinook helicopter was dispatched to rescue the team. However, the Chinook was shot down, killing all 16 men aboard.

During the battle Luttrell’s entire SEAL team was also killed. He was the only survivor of the attack, walking and crawling 7 miles to avoid capture.

His book, Lone Survivor, was #1 on the Best-Seller list. It was also turned into a movie which was released to theaters on Christmas Day, 2013. Now you can see him tell his story in person during A Special Evening With Marcus Luttrell on October 13. Not to mention, help a great cause right here in the Permian Basin.
