Producer blackbear thinks “One More Light” is Linkin Park’s “best album”

Warner Bros. RecordsBased on the tracks “Heavy” and “Battle Symphony,” Linkin Park‘s forthcoming new album One More Light certainly sounds like the band is moving in a much more poppy direction. While that’s not the type of sound you might associate with Linkin Park, producer blackbear, who worked on One More Light, thinks LP fans will still like the album.

“I do, and I’m a fan,” blackbear tells ABC Radio. In fact, he thinks that One More Light is Linkin Park’s “best album.”

Blackbear, born Matthew Musto, is one of several producers and co-writers Linkin Park recruited to help them explore new sonic territory with One More Light.

“They have a good ear for new talent and young talent,” the producer says.

Musto isn’t a Linkin Park bandwagoner, either: he’s been supporting Chester Bennington and company since he was a kid.

“It was really really weird [working with Linkin Park], ’cause I loved them in middle school,” says blackbear. “I mean, I still love them now. So it’s really really really cool to work with them.”

One More Light will be released May 19.  Blackbear, meanwhile, has teamed with pop singer Mike Posner for a project called Mansionz, and their debut album is out on Friday.
