From Ashes to New certainly hasn’t been dragging on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

The band’s current single, “Drag Me,” currently sits at #7 on the ranking, giving From Ashes to New their seventh top-10 hit on Mainstream Rock Airplay.

As vocalist Danny Case tells ABC Audio, it was the band’s label that suggested “Drag Me” be released as a single, which surprised him and his bandmates.

“In the past, there’s no way that that song would fly [as a single],” Case says. “It’s got rap verses, the whole bridge is screaming. Back in the day, it would be like, ‘You have to change this, you have to do this differently.'”

“Drag Me” has definitely been flying, which Case says has been “really incredible to watch.”

“It’s awesome,” Case says. “We couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.”

From Ashes to New previously peaked on Mainstream Rock Airplay at #2 with the song “Barely Breathing.” While it’s not really what they’re aiming for when they’re working in the studio, the band members certainly wouldn’t mind hitting #1.

“When we’re making music, we aren’t thinking about the charts and stuff like that,” Case says. “But when we have a song go to radio and start to climb up the charts, for us, it’s a really good sign.”

He adds, “We always hope for a #1 if we can get one.”

“Drag Me” appears on the upcoming From Ashes to New album, Reflections, due out April 17. They’ll launch a tour with Black Veil Brides on April 25 before hitting the road with Shinedown in July.
