Gorillaz’s new album The Mountain has debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
The ninth studio effort from Damon Albarn’s virtual band lands at #7 with a total of 53,000 equivalent album units, 38,000 of which were traditional album sales.
The Mountain marks the sixth Gorillaz album to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. The highest they’ve charted on the ranking is #2, which they hit with 2010’s Plastic Beach and 2017’s Humanz.
As previously reported, The Mountain debuted at #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart.
Gorillaz performed The Mountain song “The Moon Cave” on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. They also played their classic “Clint Eastwood” alongside rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, who’s featured on the original 2001 track.
